The Government of Odisha has launched Odisha Medhabruti Scholarship Scheme in order to provide financial assistance to the meritorious students who want to pursue higher education. Through this scholarship scheme, the government is going to provide 14500 scholarships every year. Students will get scholarships of Rs 5000 to Rs 10000 every year. The number of scholarships under a particular category can be increased by the government depending upon the number of eligible students applied and validated in other categories. In an academic year, students will get a scholarship for the total duration of the course. All the students whose total family income is Rs 6 lacs or less can be able to take benefit of this scheme.

The main objective of the Odisha Medhabruti Scholarship Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the students of Odisha who are not able to pursue higher education due to their weak financial condition. Through this scheme, the government is going to provide financial assistance which will help students in bearing their educational expenses. With the implementation of this scheme now all the students will be able to pursue higher education which will ultimately improve the literacy rate of the state. All those students whose annual family income does not exceed Rs 6 lakh will be able to take benefit of Odisha medhabruti scholarship scheme.

The Government of Odisha has launched Odisha Medhabruti Scholarship Scheme in order to provide financial assistance to the meritorious students who want to pursue higher education.

Duration Of Scholarship Under Odisha Medhabruti Scholarship Scheme

Every student will be provided scholarship for a total duration of the course
The one time scholarship for the entire duration of the course will be disbursed in the first semester or year
If a student after availing one time scholarship under one course joins another course then that student will be entitled to the differential amount only
The differential amount will be released in the first semester or year of the new course

Availability Of Courses Under Odisha Medhabruti Scholarship Scheme

Undergraduate merit- In order to pursue + 3 degree courses like BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCA etc who are having duration of 3 years
Post-graduate merit- Postgraduate courses in Arts, commerce, science and other postgraduate courses which are of non professional in nature
Technical and professional merit- Undergraduate professional degree courses and integrated courses like b tech, MBBS, BDS, BCA, BHMS, B Pharma, etc

District Wise Target And Merit Based District Wise Selection

On the basis of population data of the district the target of each category of merit scholarship will be distributed among all district proportionately
The final merit list or selection list of the student will be drawn in terms of aggregate percentage of marks obtained in the last qualifying examination from among the validated student in respective category of merit, district wise
Students will be selected in descending order of merit till it reaches the eligibility quota of scholarship
If there is tie in the percentage of marks then the parental income ceiling will be considered which means the students with lower parental income will get preference
The grading system marks will be converted into percentage by multiplying it with 9.5

General Criteria/Limitations For Award Of Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded district wise
A separate selection list will be prepared for every district
If the authenticated records are found to be invalid then the scholarship will be rejected
If the student have entered any kind of wrong information than the scholarship will be rejected

Procedure For Disbursement Under Odisha Medhabruti Scholarship Scheme

If the student fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria then the scholarship will be sanctioned to the student
The record of the student will be validated and authenticated by the principles or head of the concerned colleges or institution in the online mode
All the selected students will get scholarship by the higher education department through direct benefit transfer mode
Student must have an active valid account number in the scheduled bank which has electronic clearing system or core banking facility in order to facilitate transfer of scholarship amount
The bank account should be in the name of student
All the details of the bank account should be carefully filled by the student in order to ensure smooth transfer of scholarship amount

Roles And Responsibilities Of Colleges/Institutes/Universities

The head of the institution is responsible for ensuring the genuineness of the student
Institution have to verify correct data regarding parental income, marks secured, bank account details, College ID card, residence etc
If there is any error then it is the responsibility of principal or head of the institution to rectify the error

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant must be permanent resident of Odisha
The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs 6 lakh
Applicant must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the previous qualifying examination
Student can apply for medhabruti scholarship scheme in the first year of joining the course

UG merit	Must have passed +2 of CHSE, Odisha /class 12th or equivalent exam with 60% or more marks from an institution recognised by CBSE/ ICSE and pursuing regular degree course / +3 course in any of the recognised colleges/ institutions/ universities
PG merit	Must have passed + 3 degree or equivalent exam with 60% or more marks from a recognised Institute and pursuing regular course in one of the disciplines (where scholarships offered) in any of the recognised colleges/institutions/universities
Technical and professional merit	Must have passed +2 of CHSE/ CBSE/ ICSE/ equivalent exam or + 3 degree/ equivalent ⅔ year course (only for MBA/ MCA/ MFC/ MSW) with 60% or more marks and pursuing regular technical and professional courses in the colleges/ institutions recognised by respective regulatory authorities

Ineligibility Of Odisha Medhabruti Scholarship Scheme

Those students who are pursuing their higher studies from open University or distance learning or correspondence cannot apply under this scheme
If the student is already availing benefit of any other scholarship scheme of state or Central government then he or she can not apply under this scheme
All the students who are pursuing diploma level courses are not eligible for this scholarship
Students of M Phil and PhD and students of B.Ed and M.Ed cannot apply under this scheme
Those students who are admitted in college/Institute/universities that are not approved by the concerned regulatory body cannot apply under this scheme
Those students who are studying abroad are not eligible to take benefit of this scheme
Students who are not validated by the concerned principal or institution during first year of admission are not eligible to apply
Those students who have completed one technical or professional course and purses another technical or professional course cannot able to take benefit of this scheme
