About Harishchandra Sahayata Yojana 2022

The Government of Odisha has launched Harishchandra Sahayata Yojana. Through this scheme financial assistance of Rs 2000 is provided in rural areas and Rs 3000 is provided in urban areas to the poor and destitute for conducting cremation of the diseased. The Government of Odisha has launched online application software in order to apply under the scheme. A budget of 14 crores from the Chief Minister’s relief fund has been allocated under the scheme. Out of this 14 crore, Rs 10 crore will be directly taken from the Chief Minister’s relief fund and the remaining 4 crores will come through collectors. Initially, this scheme was launched in 16 districts

. In the past 2 years, the Government of Odisha has provided financial assistance of approximately 32 crores to 1.68 lakh poor and destitute families. The Government of Odisha has also launched mahaprayan hearse services to carry the dead bodies. Under this scheme, 39 vehicles to 29 districts and 3 vehicles to 6 medical colleges will be provided in order to carry dead bodies.

Objective Of Harishchandra Sahayata Yojana

The main objective of Harishchandra Sahayata Yojana is to provide financial assistance for the last rites of the poor. Under this scheme financial assistance of Rs 2000 will be provided in rural areas and Rs 3000 is provided in urban areas to the poor and destitute for conducting the cremation of the deceased person. Now citizens of Odisha are not required to worry about the expenses of last rites of their relatives because the government is going to provide them with financial assistance. This scheme will make the citizens of the states self-dependent. The government is going to invest Rs 14 crore for the implementation of the scheme
